Cory Doctorow on Elon Musk, enshittification, and organizing

Howdy,
The reason why we're advocates for the Fediverse is because as long as people are logging onto X and Meta, they're endorsing them. Both X and Meta are closed networks designed for addiction and to keep people distracted from what they really need to do, which is organize in IRL.
In this Democracy Now! interview Cory covers why we should divest from X and Meta (although he doesn't state that specifically).

A while back I emailed Cory asking, "What can we do about enshittification". Here's what he wrote back:
"I always try to close out my talks with the four steps that we need to fix the internet (restore competition, restore regulations, restore interop, and restore labor rights), along with orgs you can get involved with".
Here's a link and video. Scroll down to "To do that, we have to install constraints."

If you've taken the time to read it, you'll see that Cory's 4 steps all require getting involved IRL.
tty next time,
